Weekend Recap 1/12/19

Happy Monday!! I started back to work from Christmas break last Monday, but today is my first day of classes! I'm so excited!!

We had a nice weekend at home, and I'm starting the semester feeling excited and refreshed.

On Friday, it began snowing and was COLD. We opted to have a quiet night at home.
After dinner Liam was messy, but it was kinda early for pjs, so Lee put a random mix of comfy clothes on him (Christmas pants, haloween shirt)... but Liam didn't want to stay still on the changing table, so the shirt got buttoned later... over the pants HAHA! We've been occasionally having Liam wear shoes in the house to encourage him to walk more flat footed, and less on his toes.

Saturday morning we woke up and had breakfast, then we got all bundled up and headed outside.
This boy LOVES when we have bacon for breakfast. We also had French Toast and strawberries, but he was most excited about bacon.

Lee and I took turns pulling Liam around in his new sled. He was gifted this sled for Christmas, along with his snow suit. I'm so glad we got to use them this year.

First time eating snow :)

We built a snowman and named him Olaf

Not our best selfie, but still turned out cute.
After playing in the snow, we came in and played inside. Saturday evening we ran some errands at Hobby Lobby, Sam's Club, Bed Bath and Beyond, and ended with some dinner at Olive Garden.

He enjoyed OG.
On Sunday, we went to church, redeemed our reward for a free coffee at Starbucks, and came home. We played at home, and Lee and I took turns doing some work. Lee and Liam ran to Lowe's in the afternoon, and Lee and I both did some work while Liam napped.

We had Mexican chicken rice veggie bowls, and Liam was pretty happy about them.
We ended our weekend with a short visit to my sister in law and  brother in law's house. My brother-in-law's birthday is today, so we brought his birthday card by, and caught up with them for a bit, and played with our two nieces. I failed and didn't take any pics, but trust me when I say, our nieces are adorable :).

Sleep training with Liam still went well this weekend, despite our daily schedule being a little off since Lee and I weren't going to work. Now that we can get him to go to bed at a decent time in his own bed, we need to work on keeping him in his own bed at night... after that we'll try to tackle nap time.

This is going to be a somewhat busy week for me since classes start, but it shouldn't be too busy for our family as far as the evenings go. I'm looking forward to meeting all of my new students this week! Happy Monday everyone, have a great week! :)

Weekend Recap: T Swift Edition

Friends, I am so exhausted this Monday morning! Give me ALL the coffee! This past weekend was totally worth it, though. Read all about it!

Friday was kind of a drag... our AC went out, and it was 85 degrees in our casa when we got home, YUCK! So Liam and I spent most of our evening playing in the basement, since it's so much cooler down there than upstairs. Lee called the AC repair, and they came out and got it fixed! I was so thankful!! I had been a little nervous that they may need to order a part or something, and if that's the case, our house might've stayed hot for a few days, OR we'd have to pay an arm and a leg to rush order, etc. So thankfully, it got fixed, and our casa is all cooled down now. After the AC people left, Lee went and picked up some taco rice bowls from Hot Head Burrito, and we called it a night.

On Saturday, Liam and I hung around the house and cleaned up and what not while Lee ran some errands. Saturday afternoon, my brother, his gf, and my niece showed up. We took my niece and headed to Louisville, KY, and my brother and his gf stayed at our house with Liam.

Let me just start by telling you that this concert was in an open stadium where U of L hosts football games, and it was HOT! Like high 90's, heat advisory kind of hot. On our way to Louisville we rocked out to T Swift and got ourselves pumped up for the concert. Once we got to town, we grabbed a quick dinner at Chick Fil A.
This girl LOVES her some Chick Fil A.

After dinner we headed to the show! The openers were Charli XCX and Camilla Cabello. Next came Queen Tay, and she put on an AWESOME show. Think fireworks, confetti, flames, fountains, props, costume changes, and of course some really great music. The concert was quite a production. We had so much fun dancing, singing, and sweating haha.
We were HOT, but having so much fun together.

T Swift is that tiny little woman on stage, haha. Thank goodness for those screens so we could see her!

Everyone at the show got a bracelet that lit up differently for each song, etc. It was so cool!

We made it home late, told my bro and his gf all about the show, and then crashed. Sunday we got up and had breakfast with my family. My step-mom came over and us girls went to Starbucks for some coffee and got pedicures! We stopped at Sonic on our way back for lunch, and then everyone headed home. Lee, Liam, and I spent the rest of our Sunday cleaning up from the weekend and starting to pack for vacation.
Love her so much!

Time to get pampered!
This little guy was so sleepy but wouldn't go to bed, so I wore him in my baby carrier, and got some kitchen cleaning done.
We'll be headed to Daytona Beach, Florida for vacation soon, and we are SO EXCITED! This will be Mr. Liam's first airplane, first time to the beach, and our first vacation as a family of 3. I can't wait to tell you all about it when we get back. Happy Monday, everyone!

Weekend Recap: Date Night Edition!

Hello everyone! Its Friday, and I'm just now re-capping last weekend... some weeks just work out that way, right? Just go with it... ;)!  Here's a recap of our weekend: I took the day off work last Friday and gave myself a 3 day weekend. Why can't all weekends be 3 days long?!

Friday morning, a friend and her 2 sons came over for a couple of hours to play, and it was great to have some girl chat. Liam and I hung around the house the rest of the afternoon. I held him and snuggled through BOTH of his naps, and we got all packed up for the rest of our weekend. Then Friday night, we ran some errands: A stop at Target, some dinner to-go, and we headed home. It was a nice quiet day/evening with my cutie. Lee left for Nashville for a conference straight from work on Friday, so Liam and I were flying solo the first part of the weekend.
We played outside on our swing...

...and we played inside with Elmo!

Saturday morning, we got up and got ourselves ready. My MIL came over to pick up Mr. Liam, and I headed for Nashville. This was my first time leaving Liam over night, and I was really nervous, BUT I did great, and didn't even let myself cry. Liam LOVES his gma, and he got so excited when she walked through the door on Saturday, so that made me feel better about leaving him.

Once I got to Nashville, Lee and I dropped my stuff in the room and headed to the pool. We ordered a frozen drink, took a nap in the lounge chairs by the pool, and it was glorious. That evening we had dinner with the conference, and they provided tickets to the Grand Ole' Opry. We had never been before and we really enjoyed it.
Pool side with a frozen, fruity drink. Much needed R & R.

The conference was hosted at the Gaylord Opryland Resort. If you've never been here, I highly recommend going. It is so pretty! We stayed here for our babymoon, and have just gone there to walk around other times we've been in Nashville, and it is enjoyable both ways. We got to stay there this past weekend, so on Sunday, we got up and had breakfast at one of the restaurants there and then spent a little time walking around looking at all of the flowers, went into a few shops, and picked up some souvenirs for our babysitters.
My love and I all dressed up for a night out.

Artwork like this was outside of the Grand Ole Opry.  I posed with Keith Urban...

... and Lee posed with Dolly.

After our breakfast and walking around the hotel on Sunday, we packed up and headed home to love on that baby of ours! It was so nice to get some one on one time with Lee, and although we drove separate to Nashville, we ended up talking on the phone with each other for an hour on our way home.

We spent the rest of Sunday playing with Liam, unpacking, and getting ready for the week. Our first couples getaway post baby was a short one, but we had a great time together, and I survived leaving Liam over night.  He must've played hard with grandma and grandpa, because he fell asleep around 6:40 pm on Sunday night, and woke once through the night for a bottle, and went back to sleep until 5:00 am Monday morning! Talk about a sleepy baby!
Family snuggles on Sunday with our sleepy boy.

We had fun in Nashville, but we sure did miss this sweet face!

So now that I've recapped last weekend, it's Friday, and I'm so excited about another great weekend planned! We are taking my niece to see Taylor Swift in concert tomorrow, and my little guy is going to spend the evening with my brother and his girlfriend. It'll be a kid swap for us! My nephew is MIA from us this weekend bc he's going to a friends's house for a sleepover, so we'll miss him, but I have no doubt he'll be having plenty of fun with out us. Hopefully next week I can tell you about our weekend sooner! Happy Friday, my friends!

Father's Day Weekend

Happy Monday! This past weekend was Father's Day! It was so nice to see both of our families, and also to celebrate Lee's first Father's Day. I have very few pics from the weekend, but I still want to make note of our celebration, so someday I can look back on this and remember how we celebrated Lee's first Father's Day.

Friday  night we went to my niece's dance recital! We got mixed up on times, and got there late, but just in time to see her dance. Liam fell asleep on our way there, so we watched a few more dances after hers and snuck out. We were able to say goodbye and snap a pic with her in costume, and we grabbed some Chinese take out on our way home.

Saturday, Lee did dominated some yard work, and Liam and I ran errands to pick up a few groceries and Father's Day gifts. Once we got home, I whipped up a dessert, and we headed to my dad and smom's house. That night we had ribs for dinner, visited my dad's new grocery store (He bought a new building and is moving his store to the larger location. Grand opening this week... so excited!), and then we came home and all the dads opened gifts. Sunday morning we visited, Lee and Liam took a nap together and I packed up our stuff, and we headed for home.
My niece, Layla, is not too cool yet for selfies with her Aunt.

Liam was not too excited about a selfie with mom and dad.

Uncle J always up for some baby Liam lovins.

Liam needed a nap, but was not loving the pack n play, so we put him in my parents' bed... safety first!!
.

Once we got home, Liam and I took Lee to lunch at McAlister's, and then to get ice cream at Milk & Sugar. Liam napped while we had ice cream, so it was so nice that Lee and I got to have adult conversation while we ate, which doesn't happen very often.
Key Lime and Lemon Meringue ice cream for our favorite guy.

How cute are these Copy + Paste shirts that Lee got for Father's Day?

Liam is so excited to match his daddy!

After lunch we came home and whipped up some stuffed peppers, and headed to my in-laws river camp for dinner. We grilled out with my in-laws, played a brief game of cards, and then we made our way home to get Mr. Liam out of the heat.

We had a great Father's Day weekend celebrating some of our favorite men.

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday, friends! Today's weekend recap is coming later in the day, because my weekend isn't quite over yet! I had today off work, so this has been a 3 day weekend for me.

We had a low key, but fun weekend! Friday night Lee picked up some burnt ends from our fav local BBQ spot, and I whipped up some simple sides for dinner. Lee's dad babysat Liam for us on Friday, so he ate dinner with us and then headed home. Lee, Liam and I just did our normal evening routine: play, dinner, bedtime, etc.

Saturday morning we got up and I made chocolate chip pancakes and bacon for breakfast. I had to go to work for a few hours, so Lee and Liam hung out at home and had a guys' day. After work, I picked up my 2 boys and we went to the mall in search of some new PJs for our growing boy. We just got a new Carter's in the mall, so we found what we were looking for right away!

Saturday night we put together Liam's high chair and fed him some baby food for the first time! He LOVES the high chair, and looks like such a big boy in it. He was indifferent about the green beans.
someone was excited about sitting like a big boy in his high chair

Sunday we went to church, got some groceries, and made a big dinner. We scored some king crab legs at the grocery store, so we made Caesar salad, crab legs, and Cheddar Bay Biscuits for dinner. YUM! This was our first time buying king crab. We have only ever purchased snow crab, but we've decided we're huge fans of kind crab! It was so nice that Liam could sit at the table with us in his high chair while we ate dinner. He played while we ate.
dinnertime with my favorite people

Sunday evening Lee and I took shifts with the baby. He played with Liam while I did our taxes, and then I took baby duty while he got some work done to get ahead for this week. After that we gave Liam a bath, and called it a night.

Nothing too exciting went on this past weekend, but laid back weekends at home with my family are my favorite! Today I had the day off work and got to spend it with my little cutie. We ran some errands, played, read books, and took a drive to encourage an afternoon nap (desperate times call for desperate measures, right?).
Liam fell alseep holding his toy! How cute is that?! He slept the whole time I ran errands this morning.

Back to work tomorrow, but I'm thankful its a short week. Our babysitters are on vacation this week, so Lee is working from home tomorrow so he can be with Liam. Wednesday and Thursday we have Lee's cousin babysitting, and a friend is watching him Friday. He is going to be spoiled rotten this week because all of his babysitters are SO EXCITED to see him!! I'm so thankful we have friends and family nearby to help us out... it really does take a village to raise a child.

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all have a great week. I'm hoping to blog later this week about Liam being 6 months old, so check back on Wednesday for another post.

Weekend Recap: Easter Edition

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had a great Easter! I know we sure did. Our weekend was BUSY, but so fun. We got to see both mine and Lee's families, so that was really nice. Having Liam here for Easter was extra special as well, and he was SPOILED rotten by his grandparents, great grandparents, and the Easter bunny.

On Friday, I was off work and got to spend the whole day with my little sweetie. We went grocery shopping for our Easter feast, and spent some time cleaning up a little to get ready for our guests. We also had plenty of playtime together, and even took a walk in the stroller. I was SO THANKFUL for some Sunshine on Friday, since it was rainy and dreary so much last week.
We had fun playing together on Friday.

We even enjoyed a little sunshine on our walk.

Saturday Lee helped set up for the WSNC's Easter Egg hunt. Liam and I went to our church's egg hunt in the morning. Liam was not super into the hunt, but I did pick up one egg for him, and he got to see his friends and cousin do their egg hunts. He was kicking his feet and making happy squeals, so I think he was excited to be outside!
Liam got to see his cousin at our church's Easter egg hunt.

After our church's hunt, we went home for a little bit and then met up with Lee and family at the WSNC's egg hunt. The WSNC is a local men's organization that Lee is a member of, and their egg hunt is huge! They stuff and 'hide' over 12,000 eggs each year. They also have several characters at their hunt, which all of the kids seem to really love.
We got to see Daddy AND the Easter Bunny at the WSNC egg hunt.

Saturday evening we had dinner with Lee's family, and my family arrived for our Easter celebration. Lee's cousin hosted his family's Easter dinner, and everyone was excited to see how big Liam had gotten since Christmas. Liam's grandma and great grandma spoiled him with Easter baskets, and he got some super cute toys and summer clothes.

Later that evening, back at our house, my family had arrived for our Easter celebration. I created an Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt for my niece and nephew, and while they weren't super enthusiastic about it, I think they still had fun. I know I had a lot of fun putting it together, so I'm calling it a win. We also dyed eggs that night, and snacked on dips and pizza.
Liam loves his cousin Layla. After we took this pic, he put his arms around her neck like a hug... it was the cutest thing ever! We failed to get any pics with Liam's other cousin Carson. :(

Sunday morning we got up early and the 3 kids opened their Easter baskets before heading to church. After church, my brother and his family had to head home, but my parents all stayed to visit and we made a FEAST! Lee grilled chicken quarters and pork chops, and my parents and I made asparagus, salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, caramelized carrots, and we had peanut butter lasagna for dessert.
Liam approves of his carseat toy from the Easter Bunny.
We all wore yellow to church for Easter. Shortly after this pic, Liam pooped ALL OVER and we had to change his cute little shirt, HA!

My dad and smom headed home, and my mom hung out for the evening. We were pretty lazy the rest of the day. We grazed over our leftovers, watched tv, and played with Liam.
The peanut butter lasagna was clutch!

Sunday night, this little guy was exhausted!

My mom is off work for a few days this week, so she is babysitting Liam today and tomorrow, which works out great, because Lee has to travel tonight for work. Other than Lee traveling tonight, we don't have too much going on this week, which I am thankful for!

I hope you all had a great Easter weekend! I'll be back here later this week with a post about the scavenger hunt I made, and if I have time, I'll post about the peanut butter lasagna I made too!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday, friends! I'm always sad to see the weekend go... they just never seem to be long enough! We had a great weekend.

Lee had to go out of town for work last Thursday, and he came home Friday. Liam and I were so excited to have him home. Lee got home around the same time I got off work, so he picked the baby up from the baby sitter's. We ordered pizza and had a cozy night at home. I love nights like that... getting to hang out with my two favorite guys, and since we didn't have to go to work Saturday morning, I didn't have to spend my time rushing around to get things ready for the next day.

Sometimes I feel like my evenings are consumed by making dinner and cleaning up, washing bottles from that day, making up bottles for the next day, packing diaper bags if Liam goes to my sister-in-law's house, or picking up our living area if my mother-in-law is coming over to watch him the next day. It's nice when I can just spend time playing with Liam rather than checking things off my to do list.

Saturday Liam got up for his normal 5:00 am bottle, but that worked out really nice bc we spent the morning bathing the baby and hanging around the house, and left around 9am to head to my niece's dance competition. She is 4, and let me tell you... her little dance was so cute. She had her hair and make up done and the most adorable costume for the competition. This competition was only an hour away, so it was the perfect one for us to go watch. I was impressed that it ran right on time and wasn't too loud! Those are ideal conditions for taking a baby along.
I didn't take any pics myself, but look at Lee and CJC. How cute are they?!

After the competition, we test drove a car! My mother-in-law rode home with us and played with Liam while we were doing our car shopping. Unfortunately, while we were inside the dealership talking prices for the car we drove, someone backed into it and left a dent in the door! So, we did not buy a car this weekend, but we're still on the hunt!

Saturday evening we just hung out at home. Lee made tacos for dinner, and we took turns eating and playing with the baby.

Saturday night playtime
Liam got to try out some of his new 9 mo size PJs. Aren't they so cute?!
On Sunday we got up with intentions to go to church, but by the time we were ready to leave, Liam was asleep. We decided to let him nap and go to late church, but then we all fell asleep and woke up about 10 min before late church started! Whoopsies! We decided to stay home from church, and instead we went grocery shopping and grabbed lunch to go while we were out. Sunday afternoon I got to snuggle with Liam on the couch while Lee replaced the headlight and tale light in my car, and Sunday night he grilled chicken for dinner and we got ready for the week.

Lee sent me this snapchat on Sunday... Liam in his USI gear. It reminded us of all the Sunday evenings we spent at USI Cheer practice in college

Overall it was a pretty relaxing weekend. I love when I get to spend time at home with my 2 favorite guys. This week should be a good one! I'm off work for Good Friday, and we'll be prepping to host my family for Easter on Sunday. Have a great week everyone!

Weekend Recap

Hello Monday! Normally I'm not thrilled to see Monday, but today, I'm kinda feeling ready to get back to our normal routine. Last week Mr. Liam had his 4 month wellness checkup, and that same night, I began feeling sick. By Wednesday morning I had a sore throat, some of worst body aches I've ever felt, a fever, and headache. I went to the doctor, and although the flu test came back negative, he diagnosed me with the flu. Apparently that nose swab test is only accurate 50 % - 75% of the time. Given my symptoms, I was treated for the flu. I'm assuming the doctor was correct, because the Tamiflu that I took definitely helped me to feel better.

Weekend

Since I was down from Tuesday - Friday last week, I didn't get to blog about Liam being 4 months old, but I'm hoping to do that later this week. Friday night I was still feeling a little under the weather, so we didn't do much. Lee grilled us a steak at home, and we played with Liam and watched the opening ceremony for the Olympics.

On Saturday, Lee went skiing for the day for a buddy's 30th birthday, so Liam and I were flying solo. He was pretty sleepy all morning, which I was thankful for, because I enjoyed our lazy snuggle time together. Although we had the whole day to do whatever we wanted, I didn't want to go too many places and spread my germs, so we kept our day low key. We had a Walmart Pickup scheduled for noon, so we did that, ran through the Starbucks drive through, and got some lunch to-go at McAlister's. I tried the Cherry Mocha at Starbucks this weekend, and YUM!! I really enjoyed it. I'm hoping to have another one this week, since I assume they will phase it out after Valentine's Day.

When we got home, Liam napped long enough for me to eat lunch, and we spent the rest of the afternoon playing.

Lee came home that evening for just enough time to shower, eat some pizza with me, and head out with friends to finish the birthday celebration. Liam and I watched Olympics until bedtime.

Liam didn't sleep well Saturday night, so on Sunday, Lee and I were both dragging from our busy Saturdays. We took turns resting and playing with Liam. Sunday evening we threw a frozen lasagna in the oven and got ourselves ready to start a new week.

Although it wasn't super exciting, I had a great weekend resting and spending time with my favorite guys. I especially love when I can get lots of quality time with Liam on the weekends, because I sure do miss him while I'm at work during the week!

This week
This week is going to be a busy one! My Mother-in-law is hosting a Valentine's Day dinner at our house with Lee's family,  and we'll be getting our house prepped for my family to visit this weekend.

Here's what our menu looks like this week:

Lasagna (leftover from Sunday), garlic bread, and salad
Grilled pork chops, baked asparagus and sweet potatoes
Toasted Ravioli, risotto, side salad
Parmesan Chicken, salad, Brussels Sprouts & sweet potatoes (can you tell I have a huge sweet potato that is needing to be cooked up? :) )

*One night we will have our family Valentine's dinner, another night we will eat take out since Lee has a night of traveling this week, and one night this weekend we will eat out before seeing a concert, so that means only 4 nights of cooking for me between now and Sunday!  woo hoo!

Have a great week everyone!
