What's Up Wednesday: February 2018

Hi everyone!! Today I'm linking up with ShayMel,  and Sheaffer to blog What's Up Wednesday. Here's what questions we'll be answering today...

What we're eating this week
Here's my menu plan for this week:
M: Turkey, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Green Bean Casserole
T: Chicken Tender Salads
W: Lasagna Soup
R: Take out
F: Shrimp tacos
S: We'll be eating at my grandparents' 60th anniversary party
S: Toasted Ravioli, Side Salad, Risotto

This week, all 3 of us have come down with a slight cold. Nothing major, but enough to make me feel tired. Monday my hubby made the sides and heated up some smoked turkey we had from last weekend. It was delish, and I didn't have to lift a finger! Last night we didn't feel like cooking or cleaning, so we picked up some fried chicken on our way home, and ate it with our leftover sides from Monday. Tonight I'm planning to get back on track with our menu. Tomorrow Lee has a meeting after work, so I'll pick up something for myself on the way home, that way I can spend my evening with Liam and not have to worry about cooking.

What I'm reminiscing about
I work at a university, and all the students are gearing up for spring break next week. This has me reminiscing about our last beach vacation! In 2016 we went to Hilton Head with my family, and it was a short trip, but so much fun. 2017 we didn't take any long vacations because we were preparing for baby Liam, but I'm hoping to do something fun this summer for the first time as a family of 3.

Also, thanks to the pic below, I'm also reminiscing about how long my hair used to be!

What I'm loving
I'm loving the stage Liam is in right now. He's so fun to play with because he is grabbing this with his hands, laughing, and has even gotten a little ticklish, but he's not mobile yet so he still likes to snuggle too. I snapped this pic on Sunday of Lee and Liam playing in the living room. The lighting isn't great, but I still love the pic.

What we've been up to
We've mostly been spending our free time playing with our little guy at home. We've also been doing a little car shopping, which has been fun. I'm excited to get that finished up and have a bigger car for our family road trips!

What I'm dreading
I'm thankful to say, nothing!

What I'm working on
Well, I started Liam's 4 month blog post and didn't finish it. Since he'll be 5 months next week, I'm working on one big post for months 4 & 5.

What I'm excited about
Warm weather! It is rainy here today, but yesterday was beautiful out. I can't wait for some spring weekends to take Liam on walks in his stroller and to use our zoo pass we got for Christmas.

What I'm watching/reading
I'm still watching Call the Midwives as I get time, and trying to keep up with Grey's and This Is Us.

What I'm listening to
These past few days I've had Thomas Rhett on repeat!

What I'm wearing
Since is unacceptable to wear sweat pants to work, I'm wearing the next best thing: Lularoe leggings. Also have been wearing these green pants on repeat, because they are stretchy and comfy, but can still be dressed up for work!

What I'm doing this weekend
Well, we have a gross amount of laundry to catch up on, so that is a big priority this weekend. On Saturday, we'll take a little day trip to IL for my grandparents' 60th anniversary dinner. I'm excited to see my family and for everyone to see Liam. Other than that, I hope to have lots of playtime and cuddle time with my two favorite guys.

What I'm looking forward to next month
Easter! I love getting together with both mine and Lee's families to celebrate Christ's resurrection. Family get togethers on both sides are always a good time, and I'm so thankful to have a baby to celebrate Easter with this year. I remember in 2015 when we were in the midst of our 6 failed IUIs, Easter was excruciating for me. It was such a difficult, sad time in our lives, and I'm so thankful that we now have our miracle boy to celebrate holidays with, and teach him all about Jesus.

What else is new?
Not much else is new here. I'm not upset about that, though. I'm loving that we've gotten into a routine with me being back at work and Liam is sleeping great lately! I look forward to evenings and weekends at home with my little family.

Bonus question this month:  What’s your family’s favorite spring break destination?

Growing up in IL, we didn't have a long spring break. Spring break consisted of a 4 day weekend over Easter. So my first real week long spring break didn't happen until college. Now that I work at the university, classes are not in session during spring break, but the offices are all still open, so we don't have a spring break from work. I hope someday we can take a spring break trip when Liam is in school, but for now, we don't have a favorite spring break destination. For funsies, here's a pic of Lee and I from spring break in college.

What's Up Wednesday- January 2018

Hi everyone!! Today I'm linking up with ShayMel,  and Sheaffer to blog What's Up Wednesday. Here's what questions we'll be answering today...

wuwquestions-edit

WHAT WE'RE EATING THIS WEEK:
I have a dry erase board on my fridge that lists the days of the week. I *TRY* each Sunday to plan out our meals and make my grocery list. If I can, I'll shop that same day. If not, I'll make my list and do early in the week. Here's what's on this week's menu:
Monday: Spaghetti and garlic bread
Tuesday: Lee was out of town, so I had take out planned for myself. I ended up eating G.D. Ritzy's, and it was yummy!
Wednesday: Chicken Tender salads
Thursday: Lee has a dinner meeting after work, so I'm not going to cook. I'm going to either order pizza or cook one at home, and spend my time playing with/snuggling Liam while I have him all to myself. Mother/Son date night, yay!
Saturday: Baby shower!! We are going out of town for my BFF's baby shower, so we'll snack at the shower, and we'll likely stop and grab something quick to eat on the way home.
Sunday: Superbowl food!! We are planning to go to my sister-in-law and brother-in-law's house to watch the game. I'm not sure what they are making, but I know I am planning to make chocolate chip toffee cheesecake bars, and Lee is wanting to make the sausage & beef, Velveeta, salsa dip in the crock pot. YUM!

WHAT I'M REMINISCING ABOUT:
The early days with our sweet Liam. He has grown so much lately, and it seems like every few days he is trying to do something new. Currently he wants to hold his own bottle so bad!

WHAT I'M LOVING:
I'm especially loving that even though I have to be away from my baby during the day, he is having so much fun with his aunt and grandma. He's really starting to recognize people, and he smiles when I drop him off to my sister-in-law, or when my mother-in-law comes over to watch him. It makes my mama heart so happy to know he is being taken such good care of.

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO
Traveling! We've been in IL the past two weekends, and we're going again for the day on Saturday. Last weekend we helped my brother move to his new house, and Lee was a busy bee helping the guys, but I mostly got to snuggle Liam all weekend and it was pretty great.

WHAT I'M DREADING
Nothing at the moment

WHAT I'M WORKING ON
I'd say I'm not really working on anything right now, just focusing on staying current on my house! Laundry, bottle washing, diaper bag packing, dinner making, etc. My mother-in-law watches Liam at our house, so I  *try* to keep it somewhat tidy so she isn't hanging out in filth all day. So each night I'm trying ot make sure our dinner dishes are washed and the living room and dining room and Liam's room are picked up, since that's where we all spend most of our time. What I NEED to be working on is dusting the whole place! We'll see if I get that done before next month's WUW.

WHAT I'M EXCITED ABOUT
Liam's doctor appointment next week! I can't wait to see how much he weighs officially, and how long he is. I don't think he's gained a ton of weight lately, but I do think he is getting longer. His chubby little belly seems to be fading away, which is sad, but I'm sure he'll go through plenty of adorably chubby phases. I'm also curious when the doctor will recommend us starting rice cereal or baby food.

WHAT I'M WATCHING/READING
I'm really not reading anything right now. I started Harry Potter on audio book during my pregnancy, and I'm still listening to Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire (book 4 of 6). I'm currently watching Call the Midwife on Netflix, which I love. I'm also trying to keep up with This is Us, and Grey's Anatomy. I've had The Bachelor on in the background while I'm doing stuff at home, but I'm not really keeping up with all of the girls and the drama.

WHAT I'M LISTENING TO
HP on audio book and christian radio are my two go-to's right now.

WHAT I'M WEARING
I'm back to wearing dress clothes since I'm working again, but every now and then I'll sneak in something a little more casual if I'm feeling extra tired or something. I just got these olive pants from Maurice's, and I'm excited to wear them! I have the same style in red and black and I love them both. The red pair is soft and cotton-y, but the black pair is more of a denim material.

WHAT I'M DOING THIS WEEKEND
Going to my BFF's baby shower on Saturday (SO EXCITED), and watching the Superbowl, aka eating snacks and talking with family, haha!

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH
In February, we are taking my niece and nephew to see Luke Bryan in concert! I'm excited for his show, and especially excited to spend some quality time with Carson and Layla. We haven't gotten much one on one time with them since I got pregnant, so this is much overdue.

WHAT ELSE IS NEW
Liam will be 4 months old next week, and I feel like he has done lots of developing! Check back next week for my 4 month post to read all about how my little sweetie is doing.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY, FRIENDS!

What's Up Wednesday- July 2015

Hi everyone! Happy July! I haven't blogged much this month, as I haven't had any fertility treatment news to share, but overall it has been a great month! I decided instead of writing a few paragraphs about our month, it would be more fun to link up with Mix and Match Mama and answer the What's Up Wednesday questions.

What we're eating this week:
Over the weekend we got together with family and I made my Pizza Dip!! YUM! This dip is so good! Check back tomorrow for my recipe :)
mmm... so yummy!

What I'm reminiscing about:
This month I have been reminiscing about my study abroad adventures in Spain, back in 2011. This was by far my favorite collegiate experience... so amazing. Facebook gives me a daily notification about what I posted on each day in the past, so all of my Spain pictures and statuses have been showing up this month. It is hard to believe I was in Spain this time 4 years ago... I remember like it was yesterday!
Love these people!

What I'm loving:
Not having any homework this half of the summer! I am currently in graduate school seeking my Master's in Business Administration. I finished my first summer class, and was signed up for another class for the 2nd half of the summer, but decided I was school-ed out for the time being, and didn't have the focus to cram in another class, so... I dropped the course. I'll start back up in the fall, but for now, it is oh-so-nice to have a break from homework and studying!

What we've been up to:
VACATION!! woo hoo! We just got back last week from our Florida vacation. We went for a friend's wedding, and also got to spend a few days at Disney World. This trip was a busy one, but was so much fun!
Family vacation at Disney World

What I'm dreading:
Starting classes again at the end of August...some days its just hard to work all day and then come home and find the motivation to study. The bright side is that I only have 3 more semesters to go, and then I'll be finished with school forever! (BTW, I know that going to graduate school is a great opportunity, so this is definitely one of those #firstworldproblems situations.)

What I'm working on:
New decor for our dining room! We have lived in our house for a little over 2 years, but I never really hung anything on our dining room walls, so now I'm finally getting around to doing that.

What I'm excited about:
Since our last fertility treatment, I had a semi-normal cycle of 31 days! This is really really great, especially because this was all on my own with no fertility drugs! God is so good! I'm hoping my cycles will stay that way, and not get super long like they did prior to starting fertility treatments. That's my current prayer request.

What I'm watching/reading:
I just caught up on the season finale of The Bachelorette last night (so happy that Kaitlyn picked Shawn), and I'm currently reading Nobody's Cuter Than You. Mix and Match Mama also suggested this book on her blog, and I ordered this copy for me and one of my bff's! Its book about friendship, and I'm really enjoying it so far. It's an easy read, and totally relate-able.

What I'm listening to:
Currently listening to Lee laugh his booty off watching the Jimmy Fallon show. I have to agree with him... the Jimmy Fallon/Tom Cruise lip sync was hilarious!

What I'm wearing:
I recently bought these purple Under Armour shorts, and I've been living in them when I come home from work! They are so comfy! I also have two similar pairs in blue and black, and they are equally as comfortable. Definitely my fav comfy shorts!

What I'm doing this weekend:
Catching a concert with my hubby, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law!
Kenny Chesney, here we come!

What I'm looking forward to next month:
Going boating! The river here has risen so high, we haven't gotten to take our boat out in July at all. So we are hoping the rain will finally slow down, and we will be able to use our boat a few weekends in August.

What else is new:
Not a whole lot! As I mentioned in my last blog post, we are taking a break from fertility treatments this summer. We did 6 IUIs earlier this year, and none of them resulted in pregnancy. Our doctor has recommended that our next step be IVF. We are definitely interested in going that route, but have decided to give ourselves a break for the summer. Once we get back from our trip to Mexico this fall, we will call our doctor and get the ball rolling.

In the meantime, I did have some blood work done at my last doctor's appointment, which showed I had very low levels of Vitamin D. So now I am taking Vitamin D supplements daily, and will go back for more blood work at the end of August to check my vitamin levels again. Other than that, we are just enjoying our summer with no fertility drugs and no doctors appointments. So far it has been nice and relaxing, and I am so thankful for that!

What will I miss most about summer?
Definitely going to miss not having to do homework the absolute most! But also I'm going to miss the warm, sunny days spent boating. There's just something so relaxing about being out on the water, hanging with my fav person, enjoying the sunshine, and forgetting about life's problems for a few hours.

Thanks for reading, friends! I appreciate all of your love, prayers, and support so far this year. Please let me know if there is anything that I can be praying about for you!!
